Some time ago I removed the door panels on my 560SEL and padded them with felt to stop all the rattles and squeaks. It went a long way in making the creaking better, but never eliminated it entirely.

I did some reading on the internet, and finally resolved the creaking. I stuck some flocked ribbon to the edge of sill panel where it touches the door panel - problem solved!
