Resetting the "miles to next scheduled maintenance" light

Resetting the "miles to next scheduled maintenance" light

This has always worked for me, but for some odd reason, occasionally other people can't get it to reset the light. The procedure is also printed in your Owner's Manual under "FSS," so you should check there first.

You use the same button that you press twice to display the remaining FSS mileage. It's usually the lowest of the three buttons on the left side of the instrument cluster; on yours, probably the (R) button. You also use the ignition switch. There are four positions of the gnition key/steering lock:

(0) Off (Locked)
(1) Off (Unlocked)
(2) On
(3) Start

With the doors closed, place your thumb over the (R) button on the lower edge of the instrument cluster and get ready. Here we go:

Turn the key in the steering lock to Position (2). Within four seconds, press Button (R) twice. The present status for days or distance is displayed. Within 10 seconds, turn key in steering lock to Position (0). Press and hold Button (R) while turning key in steering lock to Position (2) again.

The present status for days or distance is displayed once more. Continue to hold Button (R). After approximately 10 seconds, a signal sounds, and the display shows the reset mileage or distance. Release Button (R).
